Sustainability Leadership: Navigating a Complex Landscape

29-30th April 2025 | Saïd Business School, Oxford

Sustainability Leadership is all about values. It is about creating a better future whilst also, leading through today’s complexity. We are bringing together thought leaders, innovators and business leaders to learn, share and network.

We know that sustainability isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s about rethinking how businesses operate and how we “declutter” the noise.

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues are more critical than ever. As stakeholders demand greater transparency and action, organisations face the challenge of embedding sustainable practices into their core strategies while balancing commercial priorities. Sustainability is no longer just a compliance measure; it’s a framework for creating value and ensuring long-term success.

We know leading this isn’t easy.

About the team – our philosophy:

We are bringing together leaders, experts and co-learners to share perspectives and to acquire knowledge. We will navigate the ESG complexity together. You will leave with tools, techniques, inspiration and a powerful network.

Hosted by Deborah Fleming, Programme Director at London Business School and Founder of Chameleon Works, and Morten Lehmann, CEO of Tailwind.how and an ESG expert, this workshop goes beyond theory. You will be equipped with actionable insights, a professional network of like-minded peers, and tools to future-proof your business and tackle the ESG agenda.

Delivered in the inspirational setting of the Said Business School in Oxford we bring together international perspectives and over 20 years’ worth of experiences from our respective fields of expertise in Leadership and Sustainability.

Are you prepared to tackle the growing sustainability agenda and drive meaningful change in your organisation? Join us for a two-day workshop designed for business leaders, managers and executives, seeking to embed ESG principles into their business strategies.

What is ‘Sustainability Leadership’?

In 1987, the United Nations Brundtland Commission defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

What is “ESG”?

  • Environmental: Focuses on an organisation’s impact on the planet, including carbon emissions, resource use, and waste management.
  • Social: Examines how businesses manage relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, and the wider community, promoting fairness and equity.
  • Governance: Addresses leadership, accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making within the business.

Integrating ESG is not just about meeting compliance; it is a strategic necessity for future-proofing organisations and addressing the growing expectations of stakeholders.  e.g. See our recent blog about ideas for reducing recycling.
